- If the hazard is an emergency, investigate it and make it safe within 24 hours.
- Otherwise, investigate within 10 working days of becoming aware of it.
- Once the investigation is complete, three more clocks run: the written summary of its findings within 3 working days, the safety work within 5, and 5 working days to begin preventative work, with a 12-week backstop where that is not reasonably practicable.
